Welcome to CGRER's forecast page for the ORACLES 2017

ObseRvations of Aerosols above CLouds and their intEtractionS (ORACLES)

Planned deployment period for ORACLES campaign is from August 29st to September 30th, 2017.
The University of Iowa (CGRER) is providing daily chemical weather forecasts in support of this experiment.
This is a collaboration with NCAR ACOM.
The two systems are meant to provide complementray information using configuration of The Weather Research & Forecasting model (WRF) coupled with Chemistry (WRF-Chem). Anthropogenic emissions were taken from HTAPv2.2 emission inventory. Both models run out of GFS, but with different configurations (e.g., horizontal resolution, cloud microphysics scheme, aerosol scheme, feedbacks) so smoke plumes and clouds could look different.
