************************************************************ README for Adjoint Sensitivity Forecasts, INTEX-B/MIRAGE ************************************************************ Adjoint sensitivity regions of influence are run for 3 receptors on the STEM 60 km domain. The receptors are described below in Table I. These runs are 48 hours backwards from the target time which is 18GMT on the forecast day. Table I. Information on the three targets (receptors) run every day. NAME LAT/LON/ALT DESCRIPTION North 96W/24N/4km 1-2 day northern outflow from Mexico City South 99W/16N/4km 1-2 day southern outflow from Mexico City MC 99W/19N/0.8km Mexico City Target times other than 18 GMT and target locations other than those described in Table I should be requested by emailing Elliott Campbell at cae@engineering.uiowa.edu. Targets are indicated by a black plus symbol on these plots. A summary of plots is available on the web at: http://rain.cgrer.uiowa.edu/MIRAGE/adjoint/adjointsens.html An archive of plots of each run is available on the web at: http://rain.cgrer.uiowa.edu/MIRAGE/adjoint/ These files have the following format Adjoint-MONTH-DAY-HOUR-LOCATION-TYPE-GRID-VIEW Where MONTH: target month DAY: target day HOUR: target time in GMT. LOCATION: North, South, MC as described in Table I. Other target locations will be specified later. TYPE: Con for sensitivity to concentrations and Ems for sensitivity to emission scaling factor. GRID: The grid is the horizontal resolution. Currently 60km or 12km. VIEW: 3 views are provided for each run. *Plan: this plan view is a column summed, time averaged, absolute value view which collapses the 4D sensitivity matrix to 2D. *NS: this view is looking north-south. the north-south columns are summed and time average to collapses the 4D sensitivity matrix to 2D. *NS: this view is looking east-west. the east-west columns are summed and time average to collapses the 4D sensitivity matrix to 2D. For example, Adjoint-2-27-18Z-MC-Con-Plan.gif is the time average plan view of the sensitivity with respect to concentrations. The target is above Mexico City (99W/19N/0.8km) and the target time is 18GMT, February 27th.
